What is Practical Partners?
The Practical Partners project helps care leavers aged 16 to 25 become more independent. It offers them support and guidance to overcome challenges they may face on the path to adulthood.
What support is available?
Services for Young People is working in partnership with GoVolHerts to recruit and train 30 volunteer mentors who will provide one-to-one support to 60 care leavers over 2 years.
The support offered will be tailored to each person’s needs and will cover the following areas:
- Emotional wellbeing
- Handling money and bills
- DIY skills and home management
- Coping with the challenges of being a parent
- Finding work, education and training opportunities
